* Some of the articles are translated from the Chinese Version which wrote by the founder of Zhineng Qigong.
Qigong is a practice based in and on the Entirety Concept of Life. During the process of the practice, the mind is introverted through one's own initiative ( psychospiritual adjustment, postural requirements and breath control comprising the extensions of its internalized activities), the life process of man is re-formed, perfected and enhanced, and the natural instincts are transformed into conscious intelligence. This definition of Qigong points out its theoretical basis, clearly states its special practice methods and contents and delineates its aims of practice. It embraces the totality of the distinctive features of Qigong:
A, Qigong is a practice based upon the theoretical framework of the Entirety Concept of Life. It includes the following aspects:
1), The universe is an entirety that contains numerous levels of substance. These diverse levels of substance embody each other, are in a ceaseless process of mutual transmutation, and together constitute the substratum of all things in the universe.
2), The human body is an entirety. Traditional Qigong and traditional Chinese Medicine hold that man is a unified spirit-body entirety, of which the spirit is the director, the internal organs the central substance, with the Qi(vital energy), blood, main and collateral Qi channels the interlinking network integrating these. In Zhineng Qigong, man is regarded as a unified body-Qi-spirit entirety.
3), The oneness of man and nature. This refers to the existence of man and nature as a dynamic unified entirety.
The entirety concept of the oneness of man and nature not only underlies the common theoretical basis of all forms of Qigong, but also constitutes the essence of ancient Chinese civilization. Western scientists have also begun to study this theory.
B, Qigong is characterized by its unique method-the special practice of interiorizing consciousness. This method of Inner Perception embraces the following two implications:
First, the activities of consciousness of ordinary persons are usually extroverted toward external things that are largely irrelevant to his or her own life processes, while the activities of consciousness of a Qigong practitioner are interiorized in order to merge with his or her own life processes.
Second, the activities of consciousness of ordinary persons are usually scattered outward, moving from this to that, from the one to the many. While the activities of consciousness of a Qigong practitioner are centralized within, upon a single object which is of sole concern, proceeding from the many to the one.
This point is the soul of the definition of Qigong. It is a standard by which to evaluate whether a fitness method is or is not truly Qigong. For example, the methods of establishing health found in pharmacology, medicine or sports cannot be called Qigong because by these methods the mind is not interiorized, enhanced and rendered healthy.
C, It is clearly pointed out that the aim of Qigong practice is the re-forming, perfecting, and enhancement of one's abilities in relation to one's own life process.
It embraces the diverse areas of maintaining health, developing intelligence. Heightening one's feeling nature, tapping one's potentials, and freeing oneself form the confinement of instincts in order to stride into the dimension of freedom and conscious intelligence.
D, it is pointed out that Qigong is a practice process in which practice methods are applied for the purpose of keeping oneself spiritually and physically healthy, and for further enhancing one's abilities in relation to one's own life process.
2,What is Zhineng Qigong and who should study it?
In Chinese, zhi means wisdom and intelligence, then synthesis of functions performed by the cerebral cortex in dealing with external things; neng means ability and capability, in both their physical and spiritual aspects. Briefly stated, Zhineng Qi Gong refers to a chi Gong through the practice of which intelligence can be developed, and various abilities enhanced.
The achievements of modern science, medicine and philosophy have also been integrated into Zhineng Qi Gong It has been designed and created in accord with the rigorous standards that an independent science must possess.
Zhineng Qi Gong(The cultivation of Intelligenct-Energy) was born amidst the fervor of the great mass reform of oldest Qigong. It has inherited the essential wisdom of those traditional Qigongs-qigongs stemming from Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional martial arts, and folk religions. From ancient Chinese civilizations, as well as from the explorations of modern science, medicine and philosophy, it has also absorbed into itself the philosophical essence of the Concept of Entirety---The Oneness of Man and Nature.
The Qi Field Technique-(zuchang)-a unique, broad-scale and highly effective teaching method-has been created, designed to establish and augment an intelligent energy field for the purpose of teaching and treating small and large groups of people.Who should study it? I think everyone can study it. But, this style is health Go Gong, or Medical Qi Gong, it's developed for prevention and healing, so that, people who has serious illness will get more benefit than healthy one.
As for the person who has very good health, they will get the benefit of getting the ability of tranquil-self-observation from inside of the body, develop potential ability of human being, and get real happy-feeling for our spirit.
3,What are the benefits of practicing Zhineng Qigong?
A, The prevention and healing of illness,
B, The enhancement of health,
C, The prolongation of life,
D, The development of intelligence.
A, The prevention and healing of illness.
According to the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Qigong, all diseases are caused either by the shortage of blood and Qi or by the abnormal circulation or movement of blood and Qi. In such cases, various life processes become unbalanced.
Through Qigong practice, on the one hand, the blood and Qi can become plentiful, and on the other hand, the smooth and unimpeded circulation of blood and Qi can be prompted. So, it may be said:" one never falls ill when one's blood and Qi function well" and " when plentiful healthy Qi dwells within, unhealthy influences cannot interfere."
The mechanism by which this occurs is generally identical which that of acupuncture and moxibustion, as well as massage therapy, in Chinese medicine. The difference lies only in the specific methods of practice.
Repeated modern scientific experiments have also proved that immunity is greatly improved after Qigong practice; the number of white blood cells and their pathogen-engulfing abilities and parameters are all considerable increased.
In addition, the Qi sent froth from a practitioner can also kill germs and viruses. If this out-sent Qi works outside the body, the same Qi will surely work inside the body as well, where the mind, the Qi and the internal anatomy are interconnected in a much more intimate way.
B, The enhancement of health.
Practicing Qigong can balance yin and yang, adjust and promote the circulation of Qi and blood, clear and open the main and collateral Qi channels, and cultivate the true Qi, so that the quality of human life can be improved and enhanced.
Through the practice of Qigong, the weak become strong, the sick become healthy, and the old become young again. Millions of practitioners have obtained these benefits, and many modern medical experiments have also proved this.
1),Effect on the nervous system,
Qigong practice can repair and adjust the nervous system so that it can function more optimally. During the practice of Qigong, alpha waves appear in the practitioner's EEG(electroencephalogram), while the waveamplitude increases and there is a concentration of waves in the region of the forehead(differing from their concentration at the back of the head during closed-eye meditation).
The left and right hemispheres of the brain appear to be synchronized, which indicates that the functioning of the brain is better balanced. At the same time, through the control of the autonomic nerves, Qigong can adjust the nervous system and can improve and enhance the ability to move, to sense, and to think.
2),Effect on the cardiovascular system.
Qigong practice can cause the heart to function more efficiently, improve the macro- and macro-circulation of the blood, and have an anti-aging effect upon the nervous system.
3), Effect on the respiratory system.
During Qigong practice, oxygen consumption and CO2 production are both reduced, the respiratory rate is reduced, and the functioning of the lungs is greatly enhanced.
4),Effect on the digestive system.
Qigong practice can increase the secretion of saliva and digestive juices in both the stomach and the intestines, as well as promote the peristaltic motion of the intestines. In this way, the digestive functioning of these organs can be strengthened.
5),Effect on the internal system.
Through Qigong practice, the brain's pituitary body and all the organs of the internal system can be appropriately adjusted. For example, the metabolic level of adrenaline declines, the growth hormone diminished, and the concentration of cholesterol in the blood may be reduced.
Moreover, the figure-enhancing effect of Qigong practice is great. For example, on a normal diet, one person lost 22.5 kilograms in one month, and an underweight person gained eleven kilograms within three months, achieving a normal weight.
There have also been further dramatic health benefits, such as the emergence of new teeth and the growth of new hair in the aged, as well as the disappearance of spots and freckles, and other similar results.
C, The prolongation of life,
The experiences of many Qigong practitioners have also confirmed the above statement. Many experiments have also proved that the secretion of sex hormones can be adjusted through Qigong practice. Beijing Qigong Association studied 600 aged persons, 300 in a Qigong group and 300 in a non-Qigong group. Seven parameters related to intelligence were then tested. The comparison showed that the aging process of the persons in the Qigong group was obviously slower than that of those in the non-qigong group; there were also a small number of people who showed no signs of aging.
Why? According to modern biology, the normal life span of a living thing is five to seven times its growing period. The growing period of man is 25 years, thus the normal life span for man is 125 to 175 years.
Because most people violate the natural, vitality is harmed or damaged, and the normal life span cannot be realized. Through Qigong practice, the practitioner may learn how to come into accord with the laws of life, and how to enhance vitality; thus the goal of being healthy and living long can be attained.D, The development of intelligence,
1),Cognitive ability is heightened.
Not only can the practice of Qigong build up health in the practitioner, it can also stimulate the emergence of infinite wisdom and power. This is because "being calm and tranquil" is a basic requirement of the practice of Qigong. An "inwardly calm and tranquil state" is the third state, differing from both sleeping and waking states. It is a state in which not only is rest provided, but also in which fatigue is relieved.
More importantly, it is an effective way of optimizing the life processes, and especially of keeping the functioning of the brain in better balance, so that the working efficiency of the brain cells can be greatly improved.
According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, true Qi is the source and impetus of both physical and mental activities. The state of calmness and tranquility experienced during Qigong practice is the best condition in which to increase internal true Qi and promote its circulation. Plentiful true Qi provides the reliable source material for the cognitive processes; it also renders the cerebral organs sharper and more sensitive.
2)Inspiration emerges more easily.
3),The temperament and moral nature are developed.
An unstable mood, especially one such as impatience, impetuosity and anger, is caused by a shortage of internal Qi; the mind and spirit are not being sufficiently nourished by true Qi.
4),Potentials are developed.
No one knows how many potentials are stored within the human body, but one point is certain: the ordinary functions found therein comprise only a part of the whole; there are many human potentials that have never been tapped.
In the large view, the potentials of mankind are very great. If, through one's own initiative, the mind can be correctly used, many potentials can be developed through special training.
4, What are the distinctive
features of Zhineng Qigong?
Zhineng Qigong possesses nice major features:
1),A unique system of theory-The Hunyuan Entirety Theory.
2),A system of practice methods-Three practice forms and three stages of practice.
3),A number of practice secrets collected from wide-ranging sources.
4),Three simultaneously adopted teaching methods:(1)teaching through intuitive transmission, from mind to mind or spirit to spirit(as opposed to employing activities of direct observation, or information-gathering); this is best embodied in the Qi Field Technique, and represents the highest level of instruction;(2) teaching through oral communication(explaining the theories and methods);this represents a lower and less subtle instructional method; and (3) teaching through active physical demonstration, which represents the lowest level of instruction.
5),A technique of nonspecific mental concentration.
6), The use of the Qi-attraction Method (yin Qi)for mobilizing Qi.
7),An open-type Qigong style.
8),The transmission of Qi to others without damage to one's internal essential Qi.
9),Distinct reactions as a result of practice.
